Don’t Worry Be Happy
Here we are into May already and summer is almost upon us. If you are anything like me, I tend to worry about many things.
BUT…I am working on changing that as I am reminded what Jesus says:
Therefore, do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own — Matthew 6:34
A few verses before that, He tells us not to worry about our life, what we will eat or drink, about our body, what we will wear. He asks, isn’t life more important than food and the body more important than clothes? He reminds us to look at the birds in the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet our Heavenly Father feeds them, right? He then asks us aren’t we much more valuable than they, specifically making us dig down deep and ponder…
Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life? — Matthew 6:27
Now that is a very interesting question and one I think we all need to keep stored away in our mental file. When trouble comes, and they will definitely come, we can refer to this saved file and ask ourselves is this worth worrying about. Remember…we can’t add anything positive by worrying, however we add alright, but it’s not pretty, it’s worry lines on our face, ulcers in our stomach, daily migraines and more often, disease runs rampant. And this “takes away” from our longevity and fruitful life.
Society has taught us to grow up, work hard and save, save, save…or in this new era, get a 401K. With our economy, saving may be impossible for most and Jesus is telling us not to worry! I believe that’s why it’s so hard for anyone to have faith and believe, much less follow Jesus. You have people here, people you can touch, talk with and debate with, parents who raised us and were the example; something tangible.
Jesus is telling us to believe without seeing; no proof in the pudding. It is hard, so very hard to believe in anything in which there is no visual proof, no hard evidence. BUT let me tell you I have firsthand experience, I have “proof” of God’s faithfulness. When I learned what The Bible says in Malachi 3:10 where God tells us to “test Him in this”, I did exactly that. In 2006 I began tithing as I was paying child support, working up to four jobs to make ends meet, and living in places that only had 2 bedrooms (and I have 2 kids, male and female). This is when my financial miracles began. I needed “proof”, I needed something to believe in because the court system had let me down , my own upbringing had let me down, and the world in general had let me down so I felt like, Ok I will try this and I will test God. Well I got the shock of my life and received an abundance of blessings from the Almighty, in which I go into detail in the book, Daughter of the King: Finally Free.
Remember in Matthew 6:33, Jesus says, Seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Step out with just a small amount of faith and see God show up, watch His faithfulness and receive His blessings for you and your life. When you do, you will begin to bless others; it is a natural succession. You will then know the truth and it will set you free, it has me.
God Bless you and all you do!
